Vegan Chocolate Cake

This is one of the easiest and dairy egg free cakes I have ever made. It is also super quick; no mixer required. Very cheap cake to make and can be enjoyed by all. I hope you like it as much as my family. This recipe can also be scaled up or down to make smaller or larger cakes


200 g plain flour

35 g cocoa powder

200 g castor sugar

Half a teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

1 teaspoon instant coffee powder

240 mL water

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract


  • Prepare baking 2 x 18cm (7 inch) pans and guideline with parchment paper all cake release spray
  • Preheat oven 150°C
  • Mixed together to take ingredients in a large bowl.
  • In a separate bowl mix together the wet ingredients
  • Poor wet ingredients into the dry
  • Divide cake batter into the prepared pans
  • Bake for about 30 minutes or until skewer comes out clean

To make the frosting you’ll need

125 g margarine

125 g dark chocolate (dairy free)

250 g icing sugar

2-3 tablespoons plant milk (we use soy, but any will work)

In a small saucepan melt together the margarine and chocolate

Beat together with icing sugar

And milk is required you may need more or less depending on consistency you need
